Is sinus lift an absolute necessity?
In the surgical management of the atrophic posterior maxilla, the external sinus lift procedure is considered to be the gold standard.
With the advent of the new millennium, the patients required faster, less traumatic and less costly treatments. Hence the “Kiss Concept” has evolved where alternative approaches to the external sinus lift were developed mainly the internal sinus lift, nasal lift, placement of implants in the palatal bone, tuberosity and pterygoid region.
These techniques have simplified the surgical management of this problem. We will pass in review the applied anatomy and radiology of the posterior maxilla and present clinical cases.
